Job Description:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our team in Barking. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting students with PMLD, working alongside teachers, therapists, and other staff members to provide holistic care and education. This position requires a strong sense of empathy, patience, and a deep commitment to making a difference in the lives of our students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development and implementation of personalized education plans (PEPs) tailored to each student’s needs
- Provide one-on-one and group support to students, focusing on their academic, personal, and social development
- Support students with daily living activities, including feeding, toileting, and mobility, ensuring their comfort and dignity
- Help maintain a positive, engaging, and supportive classroom environment
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to ensure a consistent approach to each student’s care and education
- Assist in the use of specialized equipment and technology for students with PMLD
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance your skills and knowledge
Qualifications and Skills:
- Previous experience working with children with PMLD or similar needs is highly desirable
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 3, NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning) are preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A caring, patient, and positive attitude
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Understanding of the physical, emotional, and cognitive needs of children with PMLD
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
