SEND Teaching Assistant (Level 2 or 3) – South Shields
We are looking for a qualified Level 2 or Level 3 SEND Teaching Assistant to join our team in South Shields. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated and compassionate individual to support children with special educational needs and disabilities in a school setting.
Role Overview:
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside teachers and other professionals to provide targeted support to students with additional needs. Your role will involve helping children access the curriculum, develop their confidence, and reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with SEND.

Assist in the planning and delivery of tailored learning activities.

Support students with their academic, social, and emotional development.

Work closely with teachers to implement individual learning plans (IEPs) and EHCPs.

Collaborate with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure consistent support.

Create an inclusive and positive learning environment.

Assist with personal care and mobility needs if required.
Requirements:

Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent.

Previous experience working with children with SEND, including autism, ADHD, and communication difficulties.

Knowledge of SEND strategies such as Makaton, PECS, or sensory integration (desirable).

A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting students.

Strong communication and teamwork skills.

A valid DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
