Teaching Assistant – Secondary Schools in Newcastle

Protocol Education is seeking a dedicated Full-Time Teaching Assistant to support students in Newcastle’s secondary schools. Your Role:
As a Full-Time Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students’ academic and personal development. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting the class teacher in planning and delivering lessons.
  • Providing one-on-one or small group support to students with additional learning needs, including those with SEN (Special Educational Needs).
  • Helping students to stay focused, complete assignments, and overcome challenges in the classroom.
  • Assisting with classroom management to create a positive, inclusive environment.
  • Supporting students with their emotional and social development, encouraging confidence and resilience.
  • Liaising with the class teacher to monitor student progress and provide feedback.

What We Are Looking For:

  • A strong passion for education and a desire to help students achieve their best.
  • Previous experience working with children or young people, particularly in a school or educational setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A positive and proactive attitude, with the ability to adapt to different situations.
  • A strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEN or additional needs (desirable but not essential).
