We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with a child with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) at a welcoming primary school in Colchester.
Role Overview:
As a 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the educational and personal development of a child with specific learning needs. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on a child's educational journey within a supportive and dynamic school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized support to a SEND child, tailored to their specific needs.
- Assist with classroom activities, ensuring the child is fully engaged and able to participate.
- Implement and adapt educational plans in collaboration with teachers and SEN coordinators.
- Monitor the child’s progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Support the child with any personal care needs, if required.
- Encourage social interaction and participation in school activities.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children with SEND is highly desirable.
- A patient, nurturing, and empathetic approach.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the child and school.
- Relevant qualifications in education or childcare are advantageous.
- A valid DBS check or willingness to undergo one.
