We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with a child with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) at a welcoming primary school in Colchester.

Role Overview:

As a 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the educational and personal development of a child with specific learning needs. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on a child's educational journey within a supportive and dynamic school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized support to a SEND child, tailored to their specific needs.
  • Assist with classroom activities, ensuring the child is fully engaged and able to participate.
  • Implement and adapt educational plans in collaboration with teachers and SEN coordinators.
  • Monitor the child’s progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support the child with any personal care needs, if required.
  • Encourage social interaction and participation in school activities.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with SEND is highly desirable.
  • A patient, nurturing, and empathetic approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the child and school.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or childcare are advantageous.
  • A valid DBS check or willingness to undergo one.
