The Role:
SEND Teaching Assistant - Complex Needs
Pupils at our school have a wide range of learning, health, physical, social and emotional needs. Many of the pupils face challenges across these areas, and our goal is to help them learn to be their very best both during their time at the school and in life beyond. Our curriculum is tailored to meet the unique needs and aspirations of each pupil, providing them with a rich life experience and preparing them to lead contented and purposeful lives.
We employ various interventions, specialist equipment and professionals to support our pupils, in addition to maintaining a well-thought-out environment and a skilled staff team. Our school offers a range of interventions including forest school provision, horse riding, music therapy, rebound therapy, sensory occupational therapy, hydrotherapy, and emotional literacy support. These interventions aim to support regulation, address specific learning needs, and promote overall health and wellbeing.
Job Duties:
- Supporting pupils with a wide range of complex needs in their learning and development
- Assisting in the implementation of individual education plans and behaviour management strategies
- Providing support during classroom activities and ensuring pupils' safety and well-being
- Collaborating with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to create a supportive learning environment
- Helping pupils to access the curriculum and participate in educational and therapeutic activities
Required Qualifications:
Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification, Safeguarding training
Education:
Relevant educational background in teaching assistance or special education
Experience:
Experience working with pupils with autism, SEND, and SEMH
Knowledge and Skills:
- Understanding of autism, SEND, and SEMH
- Ability to implement behaviour management strategies
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
Preferred Qualifications:
Additional training in special education or related fields
Working Conditions:

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
