SEN / Sensory Teaching Assistant

Job Duties:

  • Provide classroom support for students with sensory impairments
  • Implement individual education plans
  • Create a conducive learning environment for students with sensory needs
  • Collaborate with teaching staff and parents to monitor student progress
  • Utilise specialist equipment and resources for student learning

Required Qualifications:

  • Certification in Special Education or Sensory Impairment
  • Experience working with individuals with sensory impairments
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods for individual student needs

Experience:

Prior experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Understanding of sensory impairments and their impact on learning
  • Familiarity with assistive technologies for sensory support
  • Effective team working skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Training in Makaton or British Sign Language
  • Experience working with children or young adults with complex needs

Working Conditions:

This role involves working in a school setting, collaborating with teachers, parents, and external support services. Some physical assistance may be required to support students with mobility issues.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
