Job Description:
We are currently seeking a Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join our schools in Richmond. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a classroom setting. Key responsibilities include:
- Providing support to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
- Assisting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in their learning and development
- Managing challenging behaviour effectively
- Supporting the teacher in maintaining a positive and inclusive classroom environment
Required Qualifications:
A relevant qualification/experience in Special Educational Needs or Teaching Assistant
Education:
A minimum of GCSEs in English and Maths
Experience:
Prior experience working with students with SEN, or personal experience
Knowledge and Skills:
- Understanding of SEMH and ASD
- Ability to manage challenging behaviour
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
A Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools
Working Conditions:
This role involves working full-time hours in a school setting (8:30-15:30), supporting students with SEN. The candidate must be able to adapt to different learning styles and provide individualised support as needed.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
