Job Description

Location: Yorkshire and the Humber, North Yorkshire, Middlesbrough

Job Type: Temporary, Full-Time

Primary Industry: Education and Training

Job Duties:

  • Provide sensory support to students with visual or hearing impairments
  • Adapt learning materials and teaching methods to meet individual needs
  • Assist in creating accessible learning environments
  • Collaborate with teachers and other specialists to develop educational plans
  • Conduct assessments to determine students' needs and progress
  • Offer training and support to school staff on sensory issues
  • Maintain accurate records and reports on student progress

Required Qualifications:

  • Relevant qualification in sensory support or special education
  • Experience working with students with sensory impairments
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Education:

  • Minimum of a Level 3 qualification in sensory support or related field

Experience:

  • At least 2 years of experience in a similar role

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Understanding of sensory impairments and their impact on learning
  • Knowledge of assistive technologies and resources
  • Ability to develop and implement individual education plans

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Higher level qualification in sensory support or special education
  • Additional training in Braille or British Sign Language

Working Conditions:

  • Work primarily in educational settings such as schools and colleges
  • May require travel between different locations within Yorkshire and the Humber region
  • Full-time hours, Monday to Friday, with occasional evening or weekend work
