  • We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join our team at the Lower School, Gresham Drive site. The successful candidate will support pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), including assisting with personal care needs. A background in care or experience in a similar setting would be advantageous.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide tailored support to students with PMLD, ensuring their safety, comfort, and engagement in learning activities.

    • Assist with personal care tasks, including feeding, toileting, and mobility, maintaining the dignity and respect of each pupil.

    • Implement individualised education plans (IEPs) under the guidance of teaching staff and therapists.

    • Utilise communication strategies such as PECS and Makaton to support students' understanding and expression.

    • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and independence.

    • Collaborate effectively with teachers, therapists, and families to ensure a holistic approach to each pupil's development.

    Requirements:

    • A high level of multitasking is essential—this is a busy, hardworking environment.

    • A calm and sensitive approach.

    • A willingness to learn and develop your own skills and abilities to best support our pupils.

    • Resilience, as there are times when things are a challenge both mentally and physically.

    • Have NVQ2 in Childcare or an equivalent qualification.
