SEND Specialist Teaching Assistant for Resource Base

The School's Ethos

Oasis Community Learning understand the complex responsibilities of education through a lens of character, competence, and community. These principles, along with the Oasis 9 Habits, are intentionally developed and embedded throughout the academies every day.

The trust is committed to inclusion, social integration, and closing the disadvantage gap— they strive to give advantage to the disadvantaged. By fostering strong relationships, the students and teachers can learn and grow together as one community, one family.

The Resource Base

The curriculum offered within the Specialist Resource Base is specifically adapted from the EYFS and National Curriculum to provide for the academic and personal development of all pupils within the Base in a holistic manner. A range of specialised ‘Total Communication’ approaches including, Makaton, PECs and TEACCH strategies are used across the base to provide greater access to the curriculum. There is a great emphasis placed on communication skills for all our learners and this underlies most of the curriculum. Experience of these is desireable but not essential.
