The Role:
We are seeking a motivated and resilient SEND/SEMH Cover Supervisor to provide support for students with additional learning needs, including SEND and SEMH, across a variety of subjects. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising students in the absence of their regular teacher, ensuring that lessons are delivered in an engaging and supportive manner while maintaining a positive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and support students with SEND and SEMH needs in the absence of their regular teacher.
- Ensure that students remain on task and complete their work to the best of their ability.
- Provide tailored support for individual students, fostering their social, emotional, and academic development.
- Implement strategies to support students' emotional regulation and behaviour management.
- Build positive relationships with students to create a safe and supportive classroom environment.
- Assist in the preparation of resources and materials for lessons as required.
- Work closely with the SENDCo and other staff members to ensure the best outcomes for students.
- Maintain high standards of behaviour and engagement in the classroom, using restorative and proactive approaches to support students.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Experience working with students with SEND and/or SEMH, either in a school or similar environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents.
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting students.
- The ability to manage behaviour effectively and adapt to individual student needs.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- A flexible, proactive attitude, with the ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances.
Desirable:
- A relevant qualification in education, special educational needs, or a related field (e.g., Teaching Assistant qualification, Behaviour Management training).
- Experience in a similar cover supervision or teaching assistant role.
