Salary: £85 - £108 per day (dependent on experience)
Contract Type: Full-time, Term-time only (Temporary to Permanent)
Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM
Job Overview
We are seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive school in Sunderland. This role is ideal for a compassionate and experienced individual who is passionate about supporting neurodivergent students and those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, and learning difficulties. The position involves one-to-one and small group support, helping students develop academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored learning support to students with SEND, adapting materials as needed
- Assist in managing behavior using a firm but fair approach
- Encourage students' independence and confidence in the classroom
- Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to implement effective support strategies
- Foster an inclusive and nurturing learning environment
Essential Requirements
- Experience supporting neurodivergent students or those with SEND (ASC, ADHD, learning difficulties)
- Strong behavior management skills with the ability to set clear boundaries
- A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to learning support
- Ability to build strong relationships with students and staff
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 TA, Psychology, Education, Youth Work) – desirable but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
