SEND Learning Support Assistant

Location: Basildon 

Mornings only position

Job Duties:

  • Provide support to students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in the classroom setting.
  • Assist students with their learning activities and help them access the curriculum.
  • Work closely with teachers to implement individual education plans for students with SEND.
  • Support students with personal care needs, if required.
  • Monitor and record student progress and behaviour.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of GCSEs in English and Maths.
  • Relevant experience working with individuals with SEND.
  • Knowledge of different learning styles and strategies to support students with SEND.

Education:

  • Ideally Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Previous experience working in a school or educational setting with students with SEND.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Understanding of the SEND Code of Practise.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt and respond to the individual needs of students with SEND.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • First Aid certification.
  • Training in behaviour management strategies.

Working Conditions:

  • Mornings only position, working hours may vary.
  • Work primarily in a classroom setting.
  • Potential exposure to challenging behaviours from students with SEND.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
