SEND Learning Support Assistant

Location: East of England, Essex, Colchester

Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Job Description:

Job Duties:

  • Provide support to students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in a classroom setting
  • Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies
  • Support students in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities
  • Work closely with teachers and other professionals to create a supportive learning environment
  • Monitor and record student progress and behaviour

Required Qualifications:

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND
  • Knowledge of SEND legislation and best practises

Education:

  • Minimum of a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent

Experience:

  • Experience in supporting students with SEND in an educational setting
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Understanding of different learning styles and strategies to support students with SEND
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adapt to the individual needs of students

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or higher
  • Additional training in specific areas of SEND support

Working Conditions:

  • Work is primarily conducted in a classroom setting
  • May involve some physical activity, such as assisting students with mobility
  • Full-Time hours, Monday to Friday

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
