Protocol Education is looking for a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a child with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a supportive and inclusive primary school setting. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a positive impact in a child's life, helping them flourish both academically and emotionally.
As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to create a nurturing environment where the child feels supported and confident. Your role will be key in ensuring the child can fully engage with the curriculum and participate in school life.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored 1:1 support to a child with SEN, assisting them with lessons and tasks in a way that meets their individual needs.
- Assist with academic progress, offering guidance and encouragement to help the child understand and complete their work.
- Support emotional development by fostering a safe, positive environment and building trust with the child.
- Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO to implement personalized learning strategies and ensure the child is supported in all areas.
- Monitor the child’s progress, offering feedback and updates to the teacher and parents to track development.
- Encourage social interaction, promoting inclusion and helping the child build relationships with their peers.
- Ensure the child’s well-being and safety at all times during the school day. ️
What We’re Looking For
- Experience working with children, particularly those with SEN, would be beneficial, but we welcome applications from individuals with a passion for supporting children’s learning.
- A caring and patient approach – the ability to engage with children in a calm and encouraging way.
- Excellent communication skills – you’ll be working alongside teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure the child receives the best support.
- Flexibility and adaptability, as each child’s needs may vary, and you’ll need to find the best way to support them.
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant) would be advantageous, but not essential.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures to ensure a safe and positive learning environment.
