Position: Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)

Role Overview:
You will be working under the direction/guidance of the class teacher/SENCO/SEN Manager, to supervise and provide support for students with SEND to enable them to learn as effectively as possible on their own and in-group situations, considering their specialist needs.You will support the students academically KS3-5  (language, reading, writing, spelling and mathematics) & encourage the concentration and social skills. You will be responsible for the delivery of any special programmes & monitor the students’ progress /report.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with special educational needs, focusing on Autism Spectrum Disorders(ASD)
  • Assist with the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) and behaviour intervention plans (BIPs).
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and respected.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to ensure the holistic development of students.
  • Provide assistance with academic tasks, communication, social skills, and emotional regulation.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to the teaching team.
  • Maintain accurate records of student achievements and challenges.
  • Promote independence and self-confidence in students with special needs.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, particularly in a special education setting, is preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals with autism spectrum disorders .
  • A compassionate and patient approach to supporting students with diverse learning needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Has or is willing to obtain an enhanced DBS.
  • Is confident maintaining a possible work environment.
  • Previous experience working with children with special educational needs is highly desirable(not mandatory)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with SEN.Top of Form
