About the Role:

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our supportive community in Newcastle. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and other staff to support students with special educational needs, helping them to achieve their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive environment. Please note this is a full time role. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to students with special educational needs (SEN) on a one-to-one basis or in small groups.
  • Assist teachers in planning and delivering differentiated lessons that meet the needs of SEN students.
  • Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and monitor student progress.
  • Help manage classroom behavior and create a positive learning environment.
  • Support students' social and emotional development.
  • Prepare and organize classroom materials and resources.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCO, parents, and external professionals to ensure comprehensive support for students.
  • Supervise students during non-instructional times, such as lunch breaks and playground activities.
  • Participate in school events, staff meetings, and professional development sessions.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children, particularly those with special educational needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
  • Basic understanding of child development and educational practices.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Desirable:

  • Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or SEN support.
  • Experience with specific SEN conditions, such as autism, ADHD, or dyslexia.
  • Knowledge of the National Curriculum.
  • First aid training.
