We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with a child with special educational needs (SEN) at a primary school in Harlow.

Role Overview:

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the educational and personal development of a child with special educational needs. You will work closely with the child, the classroom teacher, and the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to provide tailored support and ensure the child's needs are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a child with special educational needs, both in the classroom and during other school activities.
  • Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and strategies as directed by the SENCO and classroom teacher.
  • Assist with academic tasks, ensuring the child can access the curriculum effectively.
  • Support the child's social and emotional development, promoting positive behaviour and interactions.
  • Monitor and record the child's progress, providing feedback to the SENCO and parents/carers.
  • Adapt teaching materials and resources to meet the child's specific needs.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with special educational needs, preferably in a school setting.
  • Understanding of various SEN conditions and strategies to support children with these needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with SEN.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with school staff and parents/carers.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or childcare are desirable but not essential.
