Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
Area: Haringey
Full Time 8:30 - 3:30
Start Date: September 2024.
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant starting in September 2024. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting students with special educational needs, helping them to access the curriculum and reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with special educational needs.
- Support classroom teachers in differentiating instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Help students with personal care needs, if required.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Monitor and record students' progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
- Assist with the preparation of learning materials and resources.
- Support students in developing social skills and building confidence.
- Attend relevant training sessions and meetings as required.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, particularly in an SEN setting, is highly desirable.
- A genuine passion for supporting students with special educational needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
- Flexibility and adaptability in responding to the varying needs of students.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and a willingness to learn.
- Minimum of GCSEs in English and Mathematics (or equivalent).
Requirements:
- Relevant qualifications in education or special educational needs
- Experience working with children with a range of SEN, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and learning difficulties.
- The right to work in the UK.
- Has or is willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, teachers, and parents.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Demonstrated commitment to education and personal growth.
