Position Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team starting in September. The successful candidate will work closely with our SENCO and teaching staff to provide tailored support and assistance to students with special educational needs, enabling them to access the curriculum, participate in school life, and reach their individual goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEN, both in the classroom and in specialist intervention sessions, under the direction of the SENCO and class teachers.
  • Adapt and differentiate learning materials and activities to meet the individual needs and abilities of students with SEN, ensuring they are fully included and engaged in their learning.
  • Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support strategies, monitoring progress and providing feedback to the SENCO and teaching staff.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, building trust, confidence, and self-esteem, and promoting independence and resilience.
  • Support students with personal care and mobility needs, promoting their health, safety, and wellbeing within the school environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and external professionals to ensure a holistic and integrated approach to supporting students with SEN across all aspects of school life.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs, preferably within a school setting.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent qualification is desirable but not essential.
  • Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting the learning and development of students with SEN.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and a proactive approach to meeting the diverse needs of students with SEN.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
