About the Role:

We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our supportive school community in Harrow. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and staff to support Key Stage 1 (KS1) students with special educational needs, helping them to achieve their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to KS1 students with special educational needs (SEN) on a one-to-one basis or in small groups.
  • Assist teachers in planning and delivering differentiated lessons that meet the needs of SEN students.
  • Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and monitor student progress.
  • Help manage classroom behavior and create a positive learning environment.
  • Support students' social and emotional development.
  • Prepare and organize classroom materials and resources.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCO, parents, and external professionals to ensure comprehensive support for students.
  • Supervise students during non-instructional times, such as lunch breaks and playground activities.
  • Participate in school events, staff meetings, and professional development sessions.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children, particularly those with special educational needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
  • Basic understanding of child development and educational practices.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Desirable:

  • Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or SEN support.
  • Experience with specific SEN conditions, such as autism, ADHD, or dyslexia.
  • Knowledge of the National Curriculum.
  • First aid training.
