About the Role:

Protocol Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive secondary school in Kingston, London, starting in September. This is a full-time, temporary position, ideal for someone passionate about making a difference in the lives of students with special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with special educational needs, ensuring they can access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.
  • Assist the class teacher in implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and adapting lesson materials to meet the specific needs of SEN students.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting the social and emotional development of all students.
  • Support students with personal care needs, if required, ensuring their comfort and well-being throughout the school day.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to the class teacher and SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator).
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure a holistic approach to each student's education and development.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in SEN support.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs in an educational setting.
  • A genuine passion for supporting the learning and development of SEN students.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach to working with students with diverse needs.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or SEN support are desirable but not essential.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and a willingness to learn.
