Protocol Education are looking for a SEN Teacher to join specialist provision in Southend.

Students are aged 14-19 with a range of complex needs: severe learning difficulties (SLD) and profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), neurological impairments, complex physical and medical difficulties, alongside students with moderate learning difficulties, who may need additional social and emotional support before transferring to local colleges at post-19.

Job Duties:

The SEN Teacher will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing lessons for secondary students with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD). They will create individualised education plans, adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students, and collaborate with other professionals to ensure a supportive learning environment.

Some experience teaching in special schools is preferred, although the right attitude and ability to work with and understand our students' needs is very important.

Required Qualifications:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience working with students with SLD/PMLD
  • Knowledge of SEN policies and procedures

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Understanding of different learning styles and abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to create engaging and inclusive learning environments

Working Conditions:

The SEN Teacher will work in a secondary school setting, collaborating with other teachers, support staff, and external professionals. The role may involve some administrative tasks related to student progress tracking and reporting. The teacher will adhere to school policies and procedures regarding safeguarding and student welfare. Full time.

Pay:

Mainscale + SEN1

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
