Job Description: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Needs Teacher to join our team. As a Special Needs Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in providing tailored and inclusive education to students with special educational needs, ensuring they receive the support and guidance they need to reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver differentiated and engaging lessons that meet the individual learning needs and abilities of students with special educational needs, and promote their academic, social, and emotional development.
- Use a variety of teaching strategies, resources, and technologies to accommodate different learning styles and abilities, and create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued, respected, and empowered to succeed.
- Collaborate with colleagues, including teaching assistants, therapists, and support staff, to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and support strategies for students with special needs, and monitor and track their progress and attainment.
- Assess students' learning needs and progress through ongoing observation, formative assessment, and standardized testing, and use this data to inform your teaching and provide targeted support and intervention as necessary.
- Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and external professionals, and provide regular updates on students' progress, achievements, and any concerns or issues that arise.
- Keep accurate and up-to-date records of students' progress, attendance, and behavior, and ensure all administrative tasks, including writing reports and attending meetings, are completed in a timely and professional manner.
- Engage in continuous professional development and training to enhance your skills and knowledge in special needs education, and stay informed about developments in the field.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognized teaching qualification.
- Specialization or relevant experience in special needs education, with a strong understanding of different special educational needs, including but not limited to autism, dyslexia, ADHD, and emotional and behavioral difficulties.
- Ability to differentiate instruction and adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs of students with special educational needs, and promote their engagement and progress across the curriculum.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and external stakeholders, and work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Patience, empathy, and a compassionate nature, with the ability to respond sensitively to the individual needs and circumstances of students with special needs, and provide encouragement, support, and reassurance as necessary.
