Job Title: Secondary SEN Teacher

We are looking to appoint a well-qualified individual to join the Secondary Inclusion Team at an academy in Nottingham. Ideally, you will have prior experience as a KS3 teacher or as a Secondary English specialist. You will be part of a team of specialist teachers, teaching assistants, and other pupil-facing staff dedicated to providing the best experience for their SEND pupils.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach English to KS3 support groups
  • Work with small groups of KS4 pupils to support them with their core GCSEs and life skills
  • Support and teach pupils in need of more specialist intervention within the provision
  • Deliver a curriculum adapted to meet the needs of children with SEND
  • Build and sustain positive relationships with children, their families, and external professionals

Required Qualifications:

  • PGCE, QTS

Education:

  • Special Education Needs training or relevant qualifications

Experience:

  • Experience in a SEN school or similar setting
  • Experience as a KS3 Secondary Class Teacher or Secondary English specialist

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong understanding of SEN strategies and interventions
  • Ability to work effectively with pupils with a range of special educational needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach
