Protocol Education - Seeking Passionate and Professional SEN Teacher in Sunderland

Position: SEN Teacher

We are currently recruiting for an exceptional and inspirational SEN teacher to join our team in September 2024. This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, providing outstanding education to our students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Student Engagement: Work with a class of 6-8 students, following individualised learning plans and planning tailored lessons.
  • Policy Implementation: Adhere to school policies on learning and behaviour, as well as statutory guidelines relating to special educational needs.
  • Student Motivation: Encourage students to learn and socialise, promoting independence by assisting with personal, physical, and medical needs.
  • Individualised Education Plans: Develop and implement tailored education plans for students with complex autism and high sensory needs.
  • Assessment and Adaptation: Assess student progress and modify teaching strategies as needed.
  • Collaboration: Work with families and other school staff to create a supportive learning environment.
  • Direct Instruction: Provide direct instruction, support, and guidance to students, individually and in groups.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status.
  • DBS: DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to undertake one.
  • References: A minimum of 2 satisfactory and recent references.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Interest in SEN: Genuine interest in working with SEN children and willingness to assist with personal care.
  • Experience: Previous experience working with students with complex autism and high sensory needs.
  • Skills: Knowledge of effective teaching strategies for students with complex autism and high sensory needs, and the ability to handle situations and behaviour calmly and sensitively.
  • Passion: A passion for shaping young children's education and adapting to their individual circumstances.
  • Commitment: Flexibility, commitment, and the ability to provide short, sharp tuition and brain breaks as needed.
  • Special Interests: A genuine passion for SEND and/or SEMH.

Role Details:

  • Schedule: Full-time position, Monday to Friday.

  • Collaboration: Collaborating with families and other school staff to create a supportive learning environment.
  • Instruction: Providing direct instruction, support, and guidance to students, individually and in groups.
