Protocol Education are currently recruiting for Social, Emotional & Mental Health Learning Support Assistants to work within Secondary & Special Educational Needs schools in Telford & Shropshire.

The students that attend the schools have either Autism (ASC), Social, Emotional & Mental Health Needs (SEMH), Complex Learning Disabilities, or have been identified as having a statement of an Educational Need or an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP).

The schools’ take pride in their commitment in providing an engaging and supportive environment for all students.  Their focus is to foster the individual growth, confidence, and basic skills of each child, whilst setting achievable and challenging goals. The goal is to instil a love for learning in all students by tailoring an approach to suit individual needs, and enabling the students to take full advantage of all opportunities that arise.

As a Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) Learning Support Assistant, you will be working 1:1 or conducting group sessions with students with ASC and/or SEMH Needs, following the school curriculum and with the support of the Classroom Teacher.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Has experience in Special Educational Needs.
  • Has graduated any degree relevant with Special Educational Needs or Education.
  • Has a degree in Psychology, Criminology, and Psychotherapy.
  • Any aspiring Teachers, Educational Psychologists or Behaviour Mentors are encouraged to apply.
  • Behaviour Management skills are preferred but not mandatory.
  • A willing Leader; reliable, determined, and creative.
  • Would like the responsibility to support children with additional needs and can adapt themselves to meet those individual needs.
  • Believes that every student, regardless of their background or need, can make outstanding progress.
  • Able to create and maintain strong relationships with staff, students, parents, governors, professionals, and the local community.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
