Job Description
Job Duties:
- Supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in their learning and development
- Assisting teachers in planning and delivering tailored educational activities
- Providing one-to-one support to students to help them achieve their academic goals
- Managing challenging behaviour effectively and implementing behaviour management strategies
- Collaborating with educational professionals and parents to create individualised learning plans
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
- Experience working with children or young people in an educational setting
- Understanding of SEMH and its impact on learning and behaviour
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Education: Relevant qualification in Education, Psychology, or Special Educational Needs (SEN)
Experience: Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or working with students with SEMH needs is desirable
Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and child protection policies
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues
- Effective problem-solving skills and a patient and empathetic approach
Preferred Qualifications:
- Teaching Assistant qualification (e.g. Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant Certificate)
- Training in de-escalation techniques and positive handling
Working Conditions:
- This role involves working in a school environment with children and young people
- Full-time hours with occasional requirement for flexibility
- Temporary position with the potential for extension

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
