About the Role:
As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with a team of educators and specialists to provide vital support for students with SEMH needs. You will assist in creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment where students feel supported and motivated to engage with their education. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students who require additional emotional and mental health support.

Experience in SEMH (Preferred but not essential): While previous experience working with SEMH students is an advantage, we welcome applicants with a strong interest in the field. Full training will be provided for the right candidate.

Commitment to Well-being: A deep commitment to promoting the emotional and social development of students, helping them build resilience, manage their emotions, and improve their well-being.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs, helping them engage with their learning and develop key social and emotional skills.

Assist in implementing strategies and interventions to support students’ mental health and emotional development.

Help manage classroom behaviour, using positive reinforcement techniques to encourage engagement and self-regulation.

Support students in overcoming personal challenges that may affect their learning, offering encouragement and promoting confidence.

Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to create individualised learning plans and support strategies.

Foster a safe and supportive environment where students feel able to express themselves and develop coping strategies.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
