We are seeking experienced and energetic support workers to join the team at our partner school in Hastings.

The school is part of an Ofsted 'outstanding' multi-academy trust and is a purpose-built special school in Hastings offering a nurturing, inclusive environment for pupils with SEMH and associated needs. The school aims to deliver outstanding education and care focusing on offering pupils the opportunity to build their resilience for the rest of their lives. There is an emphasis on improving emotional, academic, vocational and physical skills leading to meaningful, sustainable outcomes for life.

Hours: 37 hours per week, Term time only

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Supervising and providing support for pupils with special needs, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities.
  • Setting challenging and demanding expectations and promoting self-esteem and independence.
  • Providing feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement under guidance of the teacher.
  • Assisting with the planning of learning activities.
  • Monitoring pupils’ responses to learning activities and accurately recording achievement/progress as directed.
  • Promoting good pupil behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with established policy and encouraging pupils to take responsibility for their own behaviour.

Requirements:

  • Devotion and resilience to support children with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
  • Previous experience working with children with SEMH needs is desirable.
  • Ability to motivate students towards high achievement.
  • Commitment to fulfilling the needs of pupils experiencing behavioural, emotional, or learning difficulties, and social communication difficulties.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
