Qualified Teachers required for a Special Needs Secondary School in Luton.

The School supports students with a range of special needs that include Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Severe learning Difficulties (SLD) and pupils with ASD and complex needs. These students will have a wide range of associated learning needs as well as a complex profile of additional and overlapping needs, including but not limited to; complex presentation of speech, language and communication needs, therapeutic requirements and a range of health challenges. They have a true holistic approach with their students and work closely as a team and with the families to equip all learners with Confidence, skills, resillience and high aspirations in order to lead happy and fullfilling lives.

Location: Luton

Salary: £110 - £160 per day

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 3.30pm (Flexible hours can be considered)

Key Responsibilities:

As a SEN Teacher, your responsibilities will include:

  • Working closely with students to support their learning needs.
  • Delivering a specifically designed curriculum to mixed aged classes and abilities.
  • Providing support to pupils with communication and interaction difficulties, moderate learning difficulties, and other challenges affecting their learning and confidence.
  • Addressing individual needs related to language comprehension, writing, organization, and other difficulties impacting learning.
  • Adapting to the varying range of abilities and complexities presented by students across different areas of the curriculum.
  • Offering support to pupils with medical conditions or physical limitations.
  • To manage the behaviour of pupils whilst they undertake their work and ensuring a constructive and positive environment is always enforced.
  • De-escalating situations within the classroom in the correct way certifying safeguarding procedures are always adhered.
  • Collecting of work at the end of the lesson and returning it to the appropriate recipient.
  • Reporting any safeguarding concerns using the school’s referral procedures and safeguarding policies.

About You:

We are looking for a secondary SEN teacher with:

  • QTS or PGCE Qualification
  • Experience within a UK secondary school environment
  • Previous experience working with children in a special school environments with complex needs
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a genuine passion for supporting students' learning journeys.
  • A willingness to develop professionally in a collaborative and dynamic educational environment.
  • Initiative and a positive attitude towards overcoming challenges.
  • Carry out work pre-set by class teacher to a high standard
