Job Duties:

As a Secondary Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for providing support to students with special educational needs within a secondary school setting. Your duties will include assisting with classroom activities, helping with individual learning plans, providing personal care and support, and ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students.

Required Qualifications:

- A relevant teaching assistant qualification

- Experience working with students with special educational needs

- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Education:

- Minimum of GCSEs in English and Maths

- Additional qualifications in special needs education are desirable

Experience:

- Previous experience working as a teaching assistant in a secondary school

- Experience supporting students with a range of special educational needs

Knowledge and Skills:

- Understanding of different learning styles and strategies

- Ability to work effectively as part of a team

- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude

Preferred Qualifications:

- First Aid training

- Additional training in specific special educational needs areas

Working Conditions:

- Working hours may vary based on the school's schedule

- Interaction with students, teachers, and parents/guardians

- Potential exposure to challenging behaviour and emotional situations

- Compliance with school policies and procedures

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
