Protocol Education is currently seeking a dedicated and passionate SEND Support Assistant to join the Secondary SEND Department in a school in Lincoln. This role offers the opportunity to work with students who require additional support due to Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one and small group support for students with a range of SEND needs, including learning difficulties, autism, dyslexia, ADHD, and emotional or behavioral challenges.
- Assist teachers in delivering differentiated lessons tailored to the individual needs of SEND students.
- Help students access the curriculum by providing personalized support in classroom tasks, ensuring they can participate fully.
- Support the development of social skills, emotional regulation, and independence within the school environment.
- Contribute to the creation and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and assist with monitoring student progress.
- Work closely with other SEND professionals, teachers, and external agencies to ensure comprehensive support for each student.
- Provide feedback to teachers and parents regarding student progress and development.
- Assist with behavior management, ensuring students are supported in managing their behavior and emotional responses appropriately.
- Support students with preparation for exams or assessments, ensuring accommodations and adjustments are made as needed.
- Assist with administrative tasks related to SEND, including maintaining records of student progress and supporting the preparation of reports.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Experience working with SEND students in a secondary school setting or similar environment is highly desirable.
- Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) is preferred, but not essential.
- Understanding of SEND-specific strategies and approaches, with the ability to support students with diverse needs.
- Knowledge of IEPs and EHCPs, and experience in implementing support plans is beneficial.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
- Ability to adapt to the diverse needs of students and offer personalized support.
- A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to working with young people.
