Secondary SEND Teacher

The Role:

As a Secondary SEND Teacher, you will plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to the individual needs of each pupil, while creating a purposeful and supportive learning environment. You will work with students who present challenging behaviour, using a range of behaviour management strategies and interventions. Flexibility, creativity, and collaboration with the wider team are key to success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver lessons that meet the varied educational needs of pupils.
  • Use behaviour management strategies aligned with the school’s policies to create a positive learning environment.
  • Maintain discipline and foster an orderly, supportive atmosphere that helps pupils overcome barriers to learning.
  • Observe, monitor, and evaluate pupil responses through a range of assessment strategies.
  • Adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of pupils and participate in physical activities as appropriate.
  • Promote the inclusion of all pupils, ensuring they have equal opportunities to learn and grow.
  • Take an active role in promoting and safeguarding the welfare of students.

About You:

We are looking for someone who:

  • Shows empathy and patience when working with students who exhibit challenging behaviours.
  • Has a natural ability to problem-solve and manage/modify pupil behaviour effectively.
  • Is organised, flexible, resilient, and physically fit.
  • Has a down-to-earth sense of humour and a positive attitude towards the challenges of working with SEN students.
