We are looking for teachers with expertise in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics, who can deliver engaging lessons at GCSE level and potentially Applied Science/Advanced Science.

Your Role

  • Plan and Deliver: Design and deliver engaging lessons in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics for Key Stage 3 and 4 students. Focus on developing students’ understanding of scientific concepts, practical skills, and preparing them for their GCSE exams.

  • Assess and Feedback: Use both formative and summative assessments to evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback to support their development in both theoretical knowledge and practical science skills.

  • Curriculum Delivery: Teach the Science curriculum to GCSE students, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the core concepts in your subject area. This may include Applied Science or Advanced Science content, depending on the school’s needs.

  • Practical Science: Facilitate practical experiments and demonstrations, encouraging students to develop their laboratory skills and scientific inquiry methods in line with GCSE specifications.

  • Learning Environment: Create an inclusive, supportive, and challenging classroom environment where students feel confident in exploring scientific concepts and performing experiments.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues within the Science Department and across the school to ensure a cohesive approach to delivering the curriculum and support extra-curricular opportunities, such as science clubs or revision sessions.

  • Professional Development: Engage in departmental and school meetings and take advantage of professional development opportunities to continue growing as an educator in the sciences.

What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this role, you will need:

  • Qualifications: QTS and an Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service.
  • Specialism: Expertise in either Biology, Chemistry, or Physics, with a strong understanding of GCSE content and assessment requirements for your specialism.
  • Skills and Experience:
    • Experience teaching GCSE Science, with a solid knowledge of the curriculum and the ability to prepare students for examinations.
    • Experience or willingness to teach Applied Science or Advanced Science is an asset.
    • Strong practical teaching skills, with the ability to engage students in hands-on experiments and demonstrations.
    • A commitment to providing high-quality instruction and creating an engaging and stimulating classroom environment.
  • Passion: A genuine enthusiasm for Science and a desire to inspire students to develop their scientific skills and curiosity.
  • Positive Attitude: A professional, enthusiastic, and supportive approach to teaching, with the ability to motivate students at all levels.
