Job Title: Primary Teacher for Year 4 Class with SEMH and ADHD/ASC Needs

About the Role:
Protocol Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Primary Teacher to lead a Year 4 class in a Newcastle primary school. This unique opportunity involves teaching a small group of 9 pupils who are currently working at a Year 1 level in literacy and a Year 3 level in mathematics. The students have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, as well as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) diagnoses. You will be supported by at least one Teaching Assistant (TA) in the classroom.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement tailored lesson plans that accommodate the diverse learning needs of the pupils.
- Utilize phonics-based approaches to support literacy development, ensuring lessons are engaging and accessible.
- Employ effective strategies to manage and support pupils with SEMH, ADHD, and ASC needs, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Collaborate with the TA and other staff members to provide comprehensive support to each pupil.
- Monitor and assess pupil progress, adapting teaching methods to meet individual learning goals.
- Maintain open communication with parents, caregivers, and external professionals to support pupil development.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK.
- Proven experience working with primary-aged children, particularly those with SEMH, ADHD, and ASC needs.
- Strong understanding and experience in teaching phonics, with the ability to adapt methods to suit individual learning styles.
- Excellent classroom management skills, with a patient and empathetic approach.
- Ability to work collaboratively with support staff, parents, and external agencies.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and staying informed about best practices in SEN education.
Desirable:
- Experience with specific phonics programs or interventions.
- Additional qualifications or training in special educational needs.
