Job Description: We are seeking a caring and enthusiastic Nursery School Classroom Assistant to join our dedicated team. As a Classroom Assistant in our nursery school, you will play a vital role in supporting the teaching and learning process, and in creating a warm, safe, and stimulating environment where young children can learn and grow.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the nursery school teacher in providing a range of age-appropriate activities and experiences that support children's development across all areas of learning, including communication and language, physical development, personal, social, and emotional development, literacy, mathematics, and understanding the world.
- Support children's individual needs and abilities by providing one-to-one or small group support, and adapting activities and resources to meet their unique learning styles and preferences.
- Foster positive relationships with children, and provide emotional support, encouragement, and reassurance to help them feel safe, secure, and valued in the nursery school environment.
- Assist with the preparation and organization of the nursery school classroom, including setting up learning areas, arranging resources and materials, and maintaining a clean, tidy, and inviting learning environment.
- Assist with the supervision of children during indoor and outdoor play, and ensure their safety and well-being at all times, following nursery school policies and procedures.
- Support children with personal care tasks, such as feeding, toileting, and dressing, as required, and promote independence and self-care skills in line with their developmental stage.
- Communicate regularly and effectively with parents and caregivers, providing updates on children's progress, sharing information about activities and experiences, and building positive partnerships to support children's learning and development.
Requirements:
- Relevant experience working with young children in an early years or nursery school setting, preferably as a classroom assistant or early years practitioner.
- Passion for working with young children and supporting their learning and development during the crucial early years, and a commitment to providing a nurturing and stimulating environment where every child can thrive.
- Understanding of child development principles and early years pedagogy, and the ability to apply these in practice to support children's holistic development across all areas of learning.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, colleagues, parents, and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, and take direction from the nursery school teacher while also using initiative and demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
- Patience, empathy, and a caring nature, with the ability to respond sensitively to the individual needs and circumstances of young children and their families.
- Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development and training to enhance your skills and knowledge in early years education and childcare.
