Learning Support Assistant – Northumberland

About the Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in helping students overcome barriers to learning and thrive in the classroom. Your responsibilities will include:

Providing one-to-one and small group support to students who require additional help.

Assisting teachers in delivering engaging, inclusive, and accessible lessons.

Supporting students with special educational needs (SEN), including autism, ADHD, and other learning difficulties.

Encouraging positive behaviour and fostering students’ confidence and independence.

Helping to create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment.

Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other school staff to implement tailored support strategies.

What We’re Looking For
We are interested in candidates with a variety of backgrounds, including those with experience as Teaching Assistants, Youth Workers, Care Workers, or in any role involving children or young people. The ideal candidate will have:

A strong desire to support students in their academic and personal development.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Experience working with children or young people (desirable but not essential).

A patient, adaptable, and proactive approach to learning support.

A valid DBS on the Update Service, or a willingness to apply for an enhanced DBS check.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
