Learning Support Assistant – SEMH Provision
Location: North Tyneside
Start Date: Immediate

Protocol Education is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive secondary school in North Tyneside. This role is within the school's SEMH provision, working closely with students who require additional support to overcome social, emotional, and mental health challenges.

We are looking for a dedicated individual who is passionate about making a difference. Ideally, you will have experience working in an Alternative Provision (AP) or a similar specialist setting, with the skills to engage and support young people with complex needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH needs.
  • Helping to develop and implement tailored learning strategies.
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with students.
  • Collaborating with teachers and support staff to create an inclusive learning environment.

  • Experience supporting students with SEMH needs, preferably in an AP or specialist setting.
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach.
  • Strong communication and de-escalation skills.
  • A team player committed to student progress and well-being.
