Learning Support Assistant

Protocol Education are working closely with a Swindon based SEN School to appoint inspiring, dedicated individuals to work across our provisions in the role of specialist teaching assistant.

Hours: Full Time (08.30/15.30)

Contract Type: Permanent – School look to take on staff permanent from Agency regularly

Closes: Friday 14th February 2025

The School:

A dynamic and forward-thinking special school for pupils with moderate learning difficulties and complex needs from across the Borough of Swindon and beyond. The broad and balanced curriculum is based on a pupil centred approach enabling every child to be included and encouraged, enjoy learning, make progress and achieve. This allows for opportunities to develop a depth of knowledge through teaching, consolidation and practice. 

Your daily duties will include:

  • Greeting pupils from their buses and bringing them into school
  • Settling the class into their tutor group
  • Supporting teachers in ensuring all pupils can access their curriculum
  • Movement and handling support of pupils as needed
  • Personal and medical care for pupils as needed - training provided
  • Supervising pupils at break and lunchtimes
  • Working closely with teachers to ensure all pupils are supported in school
  • Escort pupils onto their buses to go home

Professional/personal experience with SEN is preferred but not essential. To be successful in this role, you need to have a caring, nurturing and empathic personality. A sense of humour goes a long way, and the ability to work collectively as a team and create an engaging work environment for students and staff is just has important.
