About the Role:
Protocol Education is currently seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a Year 5 pupil with Special Educational Needs (SEN) at a primary school in Essex. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher and SEN team to support the child’s learning and development throughout the academic year. ‍

This is a fantastic opportunity for a compassionate individual to make a real difference in a child’s education, while gaining valuable experience in a school setting. ‍ The role is set to start ASAP and will run until the end of the academic year (July 2024).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a Year 5 student with SEN, ensuring their learning needs are met and encouraging their academic and social progress. ✨
  • Support the pupil with tasks and activities set by the class teacher, adapting resources to suit their individual learning needs.
  • Help the pupil engage with the curriculum, encouraging independence and confidence in their work.
  • Assist the pupil with personal care or any other specific support requirements as outlined in their Individual Education Plan (IEP). ‍⚕️
  • Work collaboratively with the teacher and other school staff to monitor the pupil’s progress and contribute to the development of learning strategies.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive classroom environment where the pupil feels supported and valued.
  • Encourage social integration with other students and provide emotional and behavioral support as necessary.
  • Support the pupil during break times, ensuring their well-being and safety.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to school policies and procedures.

Key Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children, particularly those with Special Educational Needs.
  • A genuine passion for working with children and helping them reach their full potential.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. ️
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to adapt to changing needs and circumstances.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to supporting learning.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Teaching Assistant qualifications or SEN experience) are beneficial but not essential.
  • An enhanced DBS check (Protocol Education will support you in this process if necessary). ️‍♂️
