Role: Higher Level Teaching Assistant - SEN School and Local Authorities in Sunderland
Overview: We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our team at a SEN school or to support one of our Local Authorities in Sunderland. As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting the educational development and progress of students with special needs.
Location: Sunderland
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead small intervention groups for English and Mathematics, provide cover for planned absences within the school, and independently teach classes.
- Manage and supervise other learning support staff, assist with lesson plans and classroom preparation, and provide extra assistance to students with special needs.
- Record and report student progress to the teacher, mark work and provide constructive feedback, and motivate and encourage students to reach their full potential.
- Supervise students during school trips and activities, attend meetings, and collaborate with other staff members.
Requirements:
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with both teachers and students, and active listening skills.
- Compassion, sensitivity, and a strong understanding of the curriculum and teaching methods.
- Proficiency in using a computer and relevant software, with the ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing situations.
- A mature, professional, and positive attitude is essential for this role.
