Role: Higher Level Teaching Assistant - SEN School and Local Authorities in Sunderland, South Tyneside, or Gateshead (Based on location).

Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our team at a SEN school or support one of our Local Authorities in Sunderland, South Tyneside, or Gateshead. As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting the educational development and progress of students with special needs.

Key Responsibilities:

The role of Higher Level Teaching Assistant will involve leading small intervention groups for English and Mathematics, as well as providing cover for planned absences within the school. You will also have the opportunity to take on additional responsibilities, such as:

  • Independently teaching classes
  • Managing and supervising other learning support staff
  • Assisting with lesson plans and classroom preparation
  • Providing extra assistance to students with special needs
  • Recording and reporting student progress to the teacher
  • Marking work and providing constructive feedback
  • Motivating and encouraging students to reach their full potential
  • Supervising students during school trips and activities
  • Attending meetings and collaborating with other staff members

Requirements:

We are looking for a candidate with excellent communication skills, the ability to effectively communicate with both teachers and students, and active listening skills. The successful candidate should demonstrate compassion, sensitivity, and a strong understanding of the curriculum and teaching methods. Proficiency in using a computer and relevant software is also essential, along with the ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing situations. A mature, professional, and positive attitude is crucial for this role.
