HIGHER LEVEL TEACHING ASSISTANT

Join our team at the school's Flexible Learning Centre and Academic Support Provision as an Elevated HLTA. In this role, you will work alongside teachers to enhance the learning experience by taking on specific learning activities under supervision.

The ideal candidate will hold a nationally recognized Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) qualification, such as one assessed by the HLTA National Assessment Partnership. You should possess the ability to comprehend and identify desired outcomes of lesson plans, as well as a range of strategies to establish an engaging learning environment and encourage positive behavior. Moreover, you should be skilled at capturing students' interest, motivating them, and advancing their learning through well-structured teaching and learning activities. While not mandatory, having specialized skills or training in a specific curriculum or learning area (e.g., Science, English) would be advantageous. Successful applicants should possess sufficient knowledge in a defined specialist field to support students' learning and be capable of acquiring further expertise to contribute confidently and effectively to the classes they are involved in.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring student progress, assessing their achievements, and maintaining accurate records in line with agreed guidelines.
  • Collaborating with teachers to design and deliver tailored learning activities for individuals, groups, or occasionally whole classes.
  • Taking charge of a potential specialized area within the school, contributing to its management and development.
  • Assisting the Curriculum Leader in ensuring seamless coverage during colleagues' absences and providing support to cover teachers.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
