Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

Salary: £90 - £120 per day
We are looking for a committed and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a primary school in Colchester on a full-time basis. As an HLTA, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the learning experience for primary school students. You will support class teachers in delivering engaging lessons, helping students with their academic development, and promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about education and making a difference in children’s lives.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide high-quality support to teachers in delivering lessons and activities to students across a range of subjects.

Lead small group interventions to support students’ academic progress and development.

Assist children in developing their social and emotional skills, encouraging positive behaviour and interactions.

Monitor and track individual student progress, offering feedback to the class teacher and adjusting support as needed.

Help plan and prepare resources to enhance learning experiences for students.

Support students with additional needs, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN), ensuring they are fully included in classroom activities.

Supervise students during non-classroom activities such as breaks and lunch, promoting a safe and respectful environment.

Foster a positive and motivating classroom atmosphere that encourages student engagement and independent learning.

Support the class teacher with general classroom management and administrative tasks as required.

Build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents, promoting a collaborative approach to education.
Requirements:

HLTA qualification (or equivalent) or substantial experience in a similar role within a primary school.

A strong understanding of the primary school curriculum.

Experience supporting students with a range of learning needs, including SEN, is preferred.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well in a team.

Patience, resilience, and a proactive approach to supporting children’s development.

Enhanced DBS check (Protocol Education will assist with this if necessary).
