Role Overview:

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a key role in the classroom, stepping in to deliver engaging and well-structured lessons when the class teacher is away. You’ll bring learning to life for our delightful Year 2 students, fostering a fun, productive, and safe learning environment where each child can thrive. This role is perfect for a motivated HLTA with a real passion for supporting children’s education, and who is ready to step up to lead lessons with confidence, creativity, and care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Lessons: Deliver pre-planned lessons in the absence of the classroom teacher, keeping Year 2 students engaged, motivated, and on track.
  • Support Learning: Assist students with varying abilities, ensuring every child feels supported, encouraged, and included in all activities.
  • Classroom Management: Create a positive and organized learning space, managing behavior effectively and encouraging respect and teamwork.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Year 2 teacher, sharing insights and feedback to support student progress and lesson planning.
  • Assessment Support: Help assess students' learning, tracking their progress and contributing valuable observations to their academic records.

About You:

We’re looking for a confident, approachable, and compassionate HLTA who’s ready to take on the responsibility of leading lessons and supporting young learners. You should have experience working in a primary school setting and be comfortable covering lessons independently, ideally with a strong knowledge of the Key Stage 1 curriculum.

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

  • HLTA qualification or equivalent experience
  • Experience working within a primary school, ideally with Key Stage 1 pupils
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead a class with creativity and enthusiasm
  • Excellent organisational skills and classroom management abilities
