LOCATION: North Leeds

Setting: Mainstream Secondary School 

START DATE: 2nd September 2024

This is an exciting opportunity for graduates as an entry level role or experienced teaching assistants seeking a new challenge!  

I am working with a mainstream secondary school in North Leeds to recruit two special educational needs teaching assistants.  

Responsibilities:

  • Work 1-1 and with small groups of special educational needs students, including supporting within their mainstream lessons.
  • Providing emotional, social, and practical support to students with a range of social, emotional, learning, and behavioural needs.
  • Developing and implementing pastoral care plans for students.
  • Effectively managing challenging behaviour.
  • Work co-operatively within a team and have the initiative to work independently. 

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience working with individuals with special educational needs, this ideally this will be within an educational setting, however other experience is considered such as, within personal life and informal settings.
  • Be confident working independently and as part of a wider team. 
  • Have the patience and confidence to de-escalate situations and manage challenging behaviour.
  • Have knowledge of special educational needs.
  • Ideally hold a degree, or equivalent qualification.

Contract Details:

  •  Full time role (Monday – Friday)
  •   Working hours 8:30am – 3:15pm.
  • Term time only – in line with the Leeds academic calendar.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
