Job Duties:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging English lessons to students.
  • Create a positive learning environment that encourages student participation.
  • Assess and evaluate students' progress through assignments, exams, and other methods.
  • Provide constructive feedback to students to support their learning and development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the English curriculum and teaching methods.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in English or related field.
  • Teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent).
  • Valid teaching certification.

Experience:

Previous experience teaching English at a secondary school level preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent understanding of the English language and literature.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to cater to different learning styles.
  • Organisational skills to effectively plan and manage classroom activities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in English or related field.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations.

Working Conditions:

The English Teacher will work in a classroom setting within a secondary school in Brentwood, Essex. The role involves full-time hours during standard school hours, with additional time required for lesson planning, grading, and extracurricular activities.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
