Protocol Education is recruiting undergraduate and masters’ students to be teaching assistants in schools across Newcastle and north Tyneside. We are in partnership with schools in Jesmond, Gosforth, Wallsend and Whitley Bay.
This role is perfect for students or graduates who have studied a creative course. Having a creative background helps engage with children during activities which may help improve their SEND or SEMH conditions. Learning support staff are also expected to be present during the student’s lessons and support with their educational development in the core subjects. Furthermore, learning support staff may also be expected to assist the teacher with the production of the lesson.
We have both full time roles available for graduates and part time roles for those in your final year of university and wanting to gain some experience in education.
- Support the classroom teacher in the delivery and production of the lesson.
- Provide one-to-one support to students.
- Manage behaviour in the classroom.
- Interact with students, staff and parents.
- Engage in classroom activities.
- Aid the educational and emotional development of students.
Requirements:
- The right to work in the UK.
- Has or is willing to obtain an enhanced DBS.
- Is a patient and approachable individual.
- Has positive communication skills.
- Has a passionate for student development.
- Ideally experience in a school setting.
- has morning availability.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
