Job Overview:

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced 1-1 Teaching Assistant to support a non-verbal child during afternoons. The successful candidate will work closely with the child, providing dedicated support to enhance their learning experience and ensure their well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one support to a non-verbal child during afternoon sessions.
  • Assist the child with their individual learning and development needs.
  • Implement and follow the child’s Individual Education Plan (IEP).
  • Support the child in communication using alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) methods.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to develop and adapt learning activities.
  • Ensure the child's safety and well-being at all times.
  • Monitor and record the child's progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly non-verbal children.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to use alternative communication methods (e.g., Makaton, PECS) is highly desirable.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools) are desirable but not essential.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and learning.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
